I see them again, the rose petals, as fresh as those before them, emanating a strong smell, near the stairs leading deeper into the castle. Oh well, maybe in time my memories will come back. Ugh… These images… The Inner Sanctum? Celestia? What is all this? I wish I could remember all these things I chose to forget. “And it lies well beyond the refinery.” *door creaking* “In fact it lies beneath the very stone of Everfree.” “The Inner Sanctum, my most precious chamber, Twilight.” Is it connected to the… what did you call it?” You’ve been to the refinery, have you not? *chains rattling* Suddenly, images and sounds filled my mind in a strange way. I approached the center of the room right on top of the engraved bird. But wait, this must be the entrance hall, this means I should be close to an exit. I wish I could be outside, to see the sunlight. The hole made in the ceiling where the column used to be let in gusts of wind and the sound of birds. One of the two staircases leading to the upper floor had collapsed under its own weight. On the floor, engraved in the stone was the same black bird I firstly noticed on the crates, this time encircled and partly covered by the debris of a collapsed column. Looking to my left was a window with light, such bright light… It must be noon. I walked the stairs and put one of my hooves on the doorframe. I opened the velvet door in what appears to be a large hall. Guess it’s the only way out… or further inside.

The newly revealed wall disappeared under the pouring dust, revealing a secret passage. The bookcase started moving, unveiling another so familiar stone wall, the sound of friction between two stones made me back off. Shrugging off the thought, I pulled the lever firmly. I was getting more and more claustrophobic from the stone walls and the dim light, feeling as they were closing in whenever a light would go out. A lever in a study? What’s it doing here? Maybe it opens something… I approached it. Once I find out where I am, it won’t take long to get back home. I wrote myself this note in order to kill Celestia. I drank a potion in order to forget something horrible. The trace leading here, the ingredients, the vials, the glass shattering… A potion, I must have drank a potion the note, it mentions it! This is getting more and more confusing by the minute. Some crates, a few alchemy books on potions. There are a lot of vials around here, some of them broken, ingredients as well. Maybe there are some clues in this very room I doubt I would write something for myself just to reach a dead end, even though I probably wasn’t thinking clearly. In front of me were a lit candle, a dirty glass vial and a pair of scales.

I stood at the desk, just thinking what to do next.
